As I’ve alluded to several times, I’m working on a larger and more public blogging project called the Blog@Calgary.
For the past little while I’ve been cross–posting content that should normally and exclusively be there, here, trying to build up some content over there before launch.
So I have a favour to ask… would you mind popping over to www.blogatcalgary.ca, taking a gander, and leaving your comments over here for me? Anything at all, from content, to voice, to layout, colours and suggestions. I’m at that stage right now.
Looks very nice! Personally, I find that the main text area is a tad narrow. Considering that the right and left side bars aren’t terribly long, it might be best to combine them into one so as to get a slightly wider viewing area for the main bar.
But then, they say readers are more likely to stay on a page that has a narrow reading scope, so who knows?
I like it :O)
Do you not want to get some revenue from it though? If you are going to have advertising it is worth making space for it now rather than later. If you do go with advertising this heatmap might be useful https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=17954
Have you considered making it a metro-blog network? or you could join http://metroblogging.com/
I LIKE IT! There’s very little I don;t like about it actually. The side colour columns are a bit wide, but then so are my own and I haven;t figured out how to change it.
The weather is a nice touch.
The narrow content column was a bit worisome to me, I admit. But having put some content into it makes it look fairly snappy I thought.
I am definitely going commercial with this, but not at first, and definitely not with adsense. Regardless, it’s why chose the three column layout – to give me more flixibility for placement. And yeh, Chris, I have looked at the heatmap info before. But since I won’t be relying on clickthroughs, it won’t be much of an issue.
Thanks for the comments all.
very nice layout. How would one get on the ‘cowtown blogroll’ by the way?
Hey Kirk,
I havent really developed any criteria, other than that I like the site, the blogger is friendly, and that there are regular updates.
The latetr especially. I’ll pop over to yours and take a look , but feel free to post it in these comments for everyone else to see too. You know, for the time being.
