Now granted, I didn’t so much mess around in boats today as simply sit in them and watch the world go slowly by. But in a beautiful place such as this, and on a river as grand as the Mekong, that’s quite enough.
We’re on the slow boat from Chiang Kong/Huay Xai to Luand Prabang. Our midpoint is the town of Pakbeng. I did this trip myself, solo, in 2002, and remembered it fondly.
