These are the Five Elements Mountains, the Marble Mountains to us tourists. They’re named after the five Earthly constituents: metal, water, wood, fire, and earth itself.
There are shrines here, in the cs and nooks (and there are many). Both Buddhist and Hindu. On the weekends, local residents come to give merit and burn incense.
