This ancient town of Hoi An (I’m missing a few Vietnamese accents here) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But aside from that, it’s just damned pretty. Even prettier at night when the lanterns come on.
But it’s also turned into quite the tourist town, which is fine, because as I’ve said elsewhere, we’re all tourists. I’ve talked to residents who live in Danang and Hoi An, and they seem to be fine with it. They accept the situation much like we accept that Banff is, well, Banff.
The entire infrastructure here has been transformed to serve the tourist dollar, and many jobs depend on them. Hopes, dreams, desires, and wishes are buoyed by the prospects. I wonder what this woman dreams of.
