Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Asian cities are always a paradox, a juxtaposition between old and new, the decrepit and the modern, rich and poor. The disadvantaged and the powerful.
The Bitexco Financial Tower (it’s the one peeking out in the back, the tall one) is one of the most stunning buildings I’ve ever lain eyes on, and it’s a home here in Ho Chi Minh’s city of Saigon. 262 metres of svelte, lotus-like beauty. It might not be the tallest in Vietnam (not any more), but it is the most elegant.
And a powerful symbol of the ascendancy of Asia.
