Cham Islands, Vietnam
Starfish are a wonder. They’ve been around for around 500 million years, relatively unchanged in the fossil record; very successful, in other words.
I first saw sea stars on Vancouver island, and they were a marvel to hold and handle. Carefully, of course. On the west coast, many were bright orange. Here in Vietnam, they are the most brilliant blue.
These are Linckia. They were everywhere around the Cham Islands, and I was lucky to snag this photo in clear waters with some sunlight to help. I just love my Nikon AW120 – a great backup camera and waterproof enough for snorkling to five or ten meters.
Where I found this guy.
