I love the way that light makes patterns and texture come to life.
The written language of Vietnam is easily recognized by all of the accents. (In linguistics, they’re known as digraphs and diacritics; I never took linguistics in university, so TIL.) But it makes the written language very easy to recognize. They create a spoken language with three tones (low, mid, high) and various ways the tone can change (lowering, rising, unchanging).
There is also a Chinese-like SinoVietnamese script, used in academic and artistic circles. It’s archaic, sort of like classical Greek which they still teach in universities. I wonder what the symbol on the bowl means…
