Passage Jouffroy, 9th arr’t, Paris
We retrace our steps often, and each time the view is a little different. Passages, if you will recall, are the original shopping malls, invented here in Paris. Home of shopping. They connect major bouevards mid block, allowing for quick transit across, and avoiding the mud and muck and mire that ensued after rain.
This one dates from 1845. That’s 170 years old. I wonder how some of our architecture will weather then next two decades, and whether it will ever rival the architecture of the 19th century.
