The Saint Julien Memorial, Langemark-Poelkapelle, Flanders, Belgium.
It’s known locally as the Brooding Soldier, and commemorates the Canadian First Division’s participation in the Battles of Ypres. It was also the scene of the first chlorine gas attacks for the war.

We spent the day driving to see as many of the memorials and monuments in Flanders as we could. We’ve done this before, and it’s important to us.
