For the past 18 months, I’ve been doggedly working on our new house in the Inglewoood neighbourhood of Calgary. It’s a quaint little 85 year old brick building, moved to its present location in the 1930s from the Currie Barracks.
One of the great advantages of this house is that it’s so close to the river. Half a block, to be exact, from the Bow and its bike paths. This is the view a mere 30 seconds from our (soon to be) front door:
As I said, it’s one (but just one) of the great advantages to the neighbourhood.
I’ve missed the autumn season. It’s been three seasons now since I’ve been on sabbatical, and only one of those was I able to get out east to see experience those wonderful colours in Ontario. We don’t get much red in our colours out west, and I miss the maples. (There be photos here and here.)
Sadly, as a teacher (and yes, I will be going back in April) I can’t get back to Ontario at Thanksgiving for the colours. At least, not while I’m still employed. The colours here ain’t so bad, but I still miss the maples.
But hereabouts, we still have these. (And a few more on Flickr.)
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
