How do you plan a trip or vacation?
With me (now, us) it usually begins with a continent or region. And then the purchase of a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide.
We have been thinking, for the past few months, of taking a bit of a break before my going back to work, which occurs in four short weeks. Four weeks. To paint, lay floors, install the kitchen, casement and trim, and move. And take a week for ourselves.
Well, the biggest hurdle was overcome this week with the arrival of our (mine and Elliotte’s) new passports. They’re here, and now we are the complete, international-travel-capable family.
There are very few things in this world that I am prouder to possess.
And so the planning begins. Our region of choice this time ’round is Central America. And I think I’ve even isolated the country (there are only a few choices for family travel with a baby, really), and a coast.
(Those who know me know of my penchant for surfing.)
The only complication remaining is Elliotte: she’s had a cold for the past two weeks, and her cough is a bit croupy. We have to gamble that she’d be ready in time.
