We came, we planned, we conquered.
I come from the “Lonely Planet” school of travelling. Traveling, if you prefer American spelling, which I personally do not. I’ve spent four weeks living out of a 30 litre backpack, and never imagined myself going the all inclusive route. At all.
Alas, along came baby. Things are going to be a little different until I can busk her out for tips.
In fact, we began with the ‘ole LP, but for Columbia. I had had Love in the Time of Cholera on the brain, and thought it might be an option. It isn’t. So we traded it in for another LP, this one Central America. On a shoestring. Kept it for a month, and in the meantime, decided on Costa Rica.
Ti just traded it in for the Rough Guide Costa Rica, the Official Guidebook for Ellie’s First International Trip ™.
I pretty much alternate between LP and Rough, and truth be told, I prefer the wit and savvy (and the in depth “Contexts” sections) of Rough nine times out of ten. The only guide I avoid like the plague is Let’s Go. As in, Let’s Go and Buy a Different guide Book. The Dweeb Steve also tend to disturb me immensely.
So we have our passports, a destination country in mind, and a guide book. Next up, choose out all inclusive experience. We were thinking Villas Sol. Until I read some reviews.
Tune in tomorrow, when I reveal our resort.
