Including the U.S., but not Tibet, I’ve had the great fortune to visit 22 countries on four continents of this planet.
Tomorrow, just as my mother has feared, I begin hauling around La Bébé and La Fille ™ to go visit my 23rd: Costa Rica.
Here are some of the things we’re hoping to check out:
- The cloud forests of Santa Elena Reserve
- Quetzals
- Arenal Volcano
- Surfing on Tamarindo Beach
- absorbing small town Tica life as we cruise the potholes of the backcountry.
- Coffee!
What, you were expecting more? We’re only there for a week. But, as I was telling Ti, this is one place I can tell right up front that I will be wanting to return to. And for this week, we’ll be living under the assumption that we’ll be sleeping when we’re dead.
Besides, I have two weeks when I get back before I start the new job. All I have to do then is some lesson planning, trim out the new house (doors and baseboards), fix up the old homestead (a deck and some painting) and move. Easy peasy.
Back to packing.
