It was an unrelenting 34ËšC when we arrived in Liberia, Costa Rica. The only time in seven days that we found respite was when we hit the highlands, near Arenal village. 1 000 metres can do that to a climate.
Almost as an afterthought, we seeked out (sook out?) a groceria from which to purchase some portable heat. As is usual for us, we didn’t get enough, preoccupied as we were with getting to the airport in Liberia.
