Teddy’s amazing, phantastical, really wickedly awesome What I’m Listening To (aka, WILT) sampler is done. Episode 4. And it’s about time, since music’s been on the back burner for the past couple of months.
Something to do with the day job.
Anyhow, just a few reminders… WILT generally adheres to the Rules for Samplers, recently explained elswhere. The minor exception this time round is the Duritz/Bløf submission, which might, by the more pedantic of youse out there, be thought of as being in conflict with the new Counting Crows offering.
I assure you that Duritz is not Counting Crows. Not really, no.
Oh, and the first track is really just an intro of the second, and so that doesn’t count either.
The other addition I’ve included in this edition is of a retro cut that’s made its way into my ear. That would be the last track.
And so, without further ado, here’s what Teddy’s been listening to lately. Mostly new stuff, or recently new that’s fallen between the cracks until now, for whatever reason. I dare you to find any of this on commercial radio.
- Beirut – A Call To Arms
- Beirut – Nantes
- Interpol – Rest My Chemistry
- Bløf and Adam Duritz – Holiday in Spain
- Broken Social Scene – Fucked Up Kid
- Metric – Soft Rock Star
- Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah! – Underwater
- Patrick Wolf – The Magic Position
- Radiohead – House of Cards
- The Killers – Tranquilize
- Counting Crows – Los Angeles
- Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Bed
- The Constantines – I Will Not Sing a Hateful SOng
- Vampire Weekend – Mansard Roof
- Bob Dylan – My Back Pages
I’m pretty happy with it myself.
Rules For Sharing
I love sharing. In my mind, samplers are for introducing people to new music and sharing the love. If it makes you go out and some new music, then so much the better.
I’d love to send you out this CD. If you’re game, then drop me a quick email (calgary.ted at gmail.com) with your address, and I’ll make it so.
If you’d like to put something together and sent it back at me, then even better. But not required.
