I watched this race right from the beginning, thanks to excellent coverage via the Mother Corp. The last minutes were pure electricity; my heart was pounding, I was sweating, and I had goosebumps. On top of goosebumps.
Simon Whitfield, Silver medal.
He won the Triathlon’s first running in Sydney, then disappointed in Athens with an 11th place showing. This year was planned to be different, with Colin Jenkins in a supporting, and very controversial, role. Jenkins did his job, and Whitfield did what he had to do.
It was electric.
Oh, and Paul Tichelaar, who didn’t want to cooperate with the team approach? 28th. Yeah, a real contender.
