52 Bottles
I have been having a bit of a resurgence, lately, as regards my photography; I’ve been taking more, and thinking about it much much more.
Perhaps it has something to do with my next big purchase… I can’t rightly get a better camera if I’m not using my current one to the max, can I?
One way to motivate me a bit is to start projects. I had just joined a group called 50 Cups of Coffee, and then, after taking a few more photos of wine, had gone on a search for something similar for wines.
I couldn’t find one. And so now there are 52 Bottles of Wine.
Here’s what I have to say about it over there:
Drink to me only with thine eyes,
And I will pledge with mine;
Or leave a kiss but in the cup,
And I’ll not look for wine.Ben Jonson (1573–1637)
Not every good bottle of wine is celebrated… but it should be. This would be the place for that messy business.
As I develop my craft as a photographer, I find that gentle nudges and commitments keep the motivation up. I contribute to a 50 Cups of Coffee group, and I have a couple of 365 projects on the go. I would have been quite happy to contribute to someone else’s bottle a week group, but guess what? I couldn’t find one.
And so this is it.
The challenge: every time you pop the cork on an outstanding bottle (or even an ordinary bottle on an outstanding occasion), then take its picture and tell its story. As I troll out for new members, we’ll celebrate their journey towards 52 bottles throughout the year.
I hope to see some of my readers over there too.
